Science (and the devil) is in the details.
... The subject may appear an insignificant one, but we shall see that it possesses some interest; and the maxim "de minimis lex non curat," does not apply to science.
Compare and contrast as against Black's Law Dictionary of Legal Maxims:
De minimis non curat lex - "The law does not notice or concern itself with trifling matters."
Lex non curat de minimis - "The law is not concerned with matters of least consequence."
